Additive Alpha on characters

Hi, I'm new to the community and I need help trying to get different blend modes used for the model, but somehow the game is ignoring additive and subtractive alpha and using the normal blend mode instead. What do I have to do to make the game load the character models with additive alpha according to the shaders given to the object. The mod I'm trying to make is "Chroma Camo Homer" which is a parody to the chroma camo for "Espio" in Sonic Heroes. Could someone help me figure out what to do to alter Homer's blend modes in that pure3D data and load it in the game like that?
I don't believe Additive or Subtractive blend modes work on characters from experiments I've done in the past.
