It is that time for us to update our boring, legal documents. Both our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy have not had a real overhaul since August 2021. A lot has changed since then: the community has grown, new tools and platforms have come online, and it's past time for the documents that govern all of this to catch up.
So we've rewritten both. You can read both documents in full here:
When does this go into effect?
- For all current users, both documents take effect Friday, May 29th, 2026. You're welcome to review, ask questions, and flag anything that doesn't sit right before then. Your continued use of the Services after that date will be taken as acceptance of the new terms.
- For new users signing up between now and the effective date, the new documents will be in effect immediately.
Can I get a TL;DR of the changes?
While a full-read is recommended, here's what's changing, in plain English.
- We will never use your content to train generative AI, sell it for that purpose, or license it to third parties for AI training. This is now explicitly written into both documents.
- The content license you grant us has been narrowed — we only use your content to run and promote the Services, not for broad or unrelated purposes.
- Server and request log retention is being cut from 1825 days to 180 days.
- The Mod Launcher's data practices are now fully documented — including what it sends when signed in vs. signed out.
- Account deletion is now self-service within your account settings, with a 30-day reversal window if you change your mind.
- You now have a formal rights framework — access, correction, deletion, portability, consent withdrawal — including expanded rights for users in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, California, and other US states with privacy laws.
- AI-generated content must be disclosed, and non-consensual deepfakes of real people are banned.
- There's a formal appeals process for both account suspensions and denied privacy requests.
- We'll give you 30 days' advance notice before any meaningful changes to either document.
- Our full service-provider list is now published, so you can see exactly who touches your data.
What if I have questions or feedback?
If anything is unclear, feels off, or you just want to talk about it, reach out to support@donutteam.com for anything formal, or bring it up on the Forum or Discord if you'd rather discuss it publicly.
Thanks for being part of this community. We built Donut Team to be a space for passionate modders, creators, and players; and keeping that space healthy means getting the boring documents right, too.
