Introduction
Hello everyone, this is Loren from Donut Team and welcome to the third Donut Mod development update.
Today, we're going to give you a doughy update on all things Donut Mod.
Video
We prepared a video version of this update as well, if you'd prefer to watch it:
Otherwise, read on!
A New Major Version
First things first, I'd like to share that the next version of Donut Mod will be officially dubbed Version 5.0.
We were originally intending on shipping Version 4.0 with Levels 1 through 4. Then, due to the long development cycle, we eventually opted to release a public beta version of Level 1 and then later Level 2. We then intended to ship a public beta of Level 3 in a similar manner before finally releasing Version 4.0 proper with Levels 1 through 4.
Since then, however, we have so significantly overhauled the internals of the project and it is no longer anything like Version 4.0. As such, we feel incrementing the major version again is appropriate here.
What will be in this version?
On that note, lets go over what Version 5.0 will contain.
This version will feature our best and most expansive takes on Levels 1 through 3 yet. This will also be the first time since Donut Mod 3.1—a version we released nearly 10 years ago—that Donut Mod will cover the first 3 levels of the game.
Our team has gone through a tremendous amount of changes since then, our skills have improved a lot, and our standards for quality are also much higher now. Not only are we revisiting Level 3 for the first time in ages but we're also expanding even further on our work on Levels 1 and 2 from Version 4. This will be, by far, the most polished and expansive version of Donut Mod yet.
On that note, the vast majority of our changes to Levels 1 and 2 from Version 4 will appear once again and in addition to those changes, you can also expect:
- Brand new areas to explore.
- New interiors, as well as access to Bart's room in Level 1.
- New, better models for Homer and Bart's new skins, such as Pie Man and Cupcake Kid.
- Unlike previous versions, their skins from the base game will also remain available alongside these new skins.
- New traffic and reward vehicles.
- For Level 2 specifically, a brand new bonus car.
- Reworked missions, with improved difficulty balancing as well as checkpoints and new map areas integrated where appropriate.

With regards to Level 3, you can expect:
- Brand new, as well as heavily reworked and/or expanded, areas to explore.
- New interiors, including, but not limited to, the Bowlarama we have previously showcased.
- New skins for Lisa, also alongside her base game skins.
- New traffic and reward vehicles.
- A brand new bonus car.
- Significantly reworked missions, based upon those found in Version 3 but now spiced up with many new Mod Launcher features that didn't exist then as well development experience we have accrued since we created those over 10 years ago!

Q&A
One last thing before we go is to answer a few Q&A questions we took on our forum and social media accounts.
@AlfredoAndFriends asks: Are there going to be new buyable vehicles and costumes for Level 3?
As stated in the previous section, yes! There will be several new costumes for Lisa, alongside her originals, and new cars to buy in her level as well.
@Cars For Speed asks: Does Milhouse have a new vehicle for Level 3 Missions?
Well, unfortunately for the Thrillhouse, we are looking into a vehicle that would better suit his character and also not be completely made up for this mod.
@Pyro asks: Will there be new gags or level cards featured in the new update?
Level 3 will have a brand new set of collector cards, like the first two levels, and every level has at least one new gag to find.
@cardhandy6531 asks: Are there going to be any hidden secrets or Easter eggs in the levels added in the next update?
Yes.
@cardhandy6531 also asks: Will Lisa have a bronze skin in level 3?
Perhaps! The special metallic character skins will be returning, but in a different manner than Version 4.
@QueenOfSillies asks: will future updates include base game vehicles not currently present in Donut Mod, such as Mr. Plow or the WWII vehicle?
Yes, Version 5.0 will actually include a way to access many otherwise unavailable cars.
@Borb asks: Will we get a ticket for parking in the wrong place in the next Donut Mod update?
We are not in a position to speak on the law enforcement plans of the Springfield Police Department.
Conclusion
I hope this development update has given you confidence that we are still hard at work on Donut Mod and will deliver something great to play in the hopefully not too distant future.
