Introduction
Hey everyone, this is Loren from Donut Team and welcome to another Tuesday Topics blog post!
I've returned from my vacation and today I'd like to talk about some improvements I've been working on for this blog.
Blog Improvements
I must admit, back when we started Tuesday Topics, I cobbled together this blog's internals rather quickly. At the moment, it is essentially just raw HTML for each post and a small amount of metadata associated with each HTML file. There is some templating involved but it's pretty basic stuff.
And, at this point, ~34 posts in, this rudimentary system is getting a little long in the tooth. I love keeping the community updated each week, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a bit time consuming and annoying to do because of this format.
So I've been working on replacing this with a proper system! One that uses a database for the posts (allowing us to write posts from the website in the future) and also utilizes markdown for post contents to make the actual posts <em>much easier to write</em>.
The actual parser is done at this point, I just have to convert all of our existing blog posts to the new format and incorporate it into this website.
All that said, here's to more easily keeping y'all in the loop going forward!
Conclusion
Thanks for reading another one of our Tuesday Topics posts! See you again next week.
