Introduction
Hey everyone, this is Loren from Donut Team and welcome to another Tuesday Topics!
This week, I'd like to talk for a bit about what we're working on for Donut Mod version 4.3 and what we're hoping to accomplish with it.
What is in version 4.3?
Version 4.3 is the long awaited next major update for Donut Mod. This update will, of course, include Level 3 as well as some new content for Levels 1 and 2 and a myriad of technical changes and improvements to the mod's inner workings.
I'd now like to give a brief overview of some of these additions and changes:
Regarding the Seaside
It's been a long, long time since we've worked on Level 3 of the game in any capacity. The last time we released a version of Donut Mod with Level 3 in it was way back in 2015.
A lot has happened since then but we're excited to finally take another crack at expanding upon Lisa's adventure. This will be done by way of new missions, challenges, collectibles and, of course, various new areas to explore. You can expect to see some new places as well as some familiar ones in a new way.
Polishing Missions
The missions from Level 1 and Level 2 will also will be getting a development pass again in this update. In fact, many already have at this stage in development.
With these, our main focus will just be adding even more polish. We're also going to be incorporating checkpoints where they make sense to make the missions a bit more forgiving.
Expanding Evergreen Terrace
Back when we created Level 1 for this iteration of Donut Mod, we were only just getting into making tweaks to Radical's classic levels. As you may have noticed from playing it, Level 2 got much more substantial map changes than Level 1 did.
For 4.3, we are revisiting Level 1 and making some more substantial changes to the map to make it feel more like a Donut Mod level. Some of the existing changes will be improved and expanded upon and there will also be some all new areas as well.
