Learn about the Mod Jam entries and some new open source Node.js packages we've published.

Introduction

Hey everyone, this is Loren from Donut Team and welcome to Tuesday Topics #45.

This week, I'd like to shine a spot light on the recent Mod Jam entries and discuss some open-source Node.js packages we published over the past couple of weeks.

Mod Jam 3 Entries

The Roaring 1920s Mod Jam came to a close back on July 1st. There were only a few entries this time but they're all pretty cool!

All 3 of the mods released can now be found on Mod Bakery at the links below:

Open-Source Packages

During a number of previous Tuesday Topics, I've discussed our internal software library, Donut Box.

It has served us well for the past 9 months or so but I think, after giving this approach a fair go in production, it's time to retire this concept and shift to a different, more widely utilized software paradigm: individual packages.

We've begun the process of splitting Donut Box up into an assortment of individual Node.js packages that can be installed directly into our web services from NPM. They can also be installed into your own projects, if you so choose, because they're all open source and publicly available on the registry!

As far as packages designed for generic, general use, we currently have 5:

We also have an additional 2 packages that are not designed for general use, and may, without warning, recieve breaking changes. These have been made public anyway in case they are helpful to other developers as a reference point and you may find them here:

Conclusion

That's all for this Tuesday Topics, thanks for tuning in! We'll see you again on July 26th!
