Introduction

Hey everyone, this is Loren from Donut Team and welcome to another Tuesday Topics!

This week, I'd like to discuss some Mod Bakery updates!

Mod Bakery Updates

Our vision for Mod Bakery is finally coming together. This is largely due in part to some recent, rapid developments that have taken place.

For now, the platform is still in "Read-only Alpha" mode, mostly, but I expect to be moving into "Closed Beta" soon. If you're interested in participating, please send me an email at loren@donutteam.com to express your interest. :)

As for the aforementioned recent developments, it is now possible to edit a release's metadata (its title, summary and description) as well as change settings related to it (currently just its visibility) directly from the creator dashboard. Those of you who have already been granted the "Mod Bakery Creator" role and have at least one release on the platform can check this out today!

I have also made significant strides implementing the actual uploading of files. There's still a bunch of small, internal implementation details to work out but the upload form is really coming along! This is not available outside of my development build yet but you can click below to check out a preview of it:

Lastly, there were also some minor tweaks to the UI to make things a bit easier to navigate and more consistent.

I look forward to talking more about Mod Bakery, particularly the upcoming Closed Beta, in the very near future. Stay tuned!

Mod Bakery Milestone

One last thing before I go today, Mod Bakery, despite only being available in Read-only Alpha, has surpassed 100,000 total downloads since launching in May of last year! 🥳

About half of these downloads are the Mod Launcher, which isn't particularly surprising. Excluding tools, here are the top 5 downloads on the platform at the time of writing:

  1. Donut Mod 4 (6,469 downloads)
  2. More Costumes by JArmstrongArt (3,452 downloads)
  3. Fully Connected Map by Colou (3,349 downloads)
  4. A Long Long Night by Thomas Donofri and Surreal Bot (2,596 downloads)
  5. Project Donut: Anniversary Edition (2,161 downloads)

We are certainly excited to see what else gains popularity on the platform once the creator dashboard is more broadly available!

Conclusion

That's all for this week. I hope you enjoyed this week's Tuesday Topics and we'll see you again in two weeks!
